Most acupuncturists are accustomed to using many needles per treatment, in a course of 10 or more treatments, before they see results with as many as 20 treatments necessary. With Balance Method acupuncture and Master Tung’s Magic Points, patients usually see improvement after only one or two treatments and with very few needles. and fewer overall treatments are generally needed to achieve treatment goals.
Balance Method Acupuncture and Tung System of acupuncture are advanced systems of Acupuncture over 2500 years. These types of acupuncture are old, and known for their near instant and powerful results. Balance Method, which used points from the Tung System of acupuncture, is reputed to be the most effective system of acupuncture for treating pain. Balance Method is not taught in TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) schools. Practioners must attend training under one of the few experts for many years to become proficient, making it costly and time-consuming. However, the results are incredible and we are proud to have one of the few Balance Method certified acupuncturists in Florida on staff to service the Saint Cloud, Kissimmee and Lake Nona areas.

Neuro-Electric Acupuncture (NEA) combines ancient techniques with cutting-edge, modern technology, implementing the most advanced and effective protocols, to effectively treat some of the most difficult and complex conditions. NEA certification can take years and thousands of dollars to achieve, making NEA practitioners highly sought after.
This tiny needle could end years of pain in moments, calm frazzled nerves and stop food and nicotine cravings in their tracks.
ASP ear needles (semi-permanent needles) are made in France in 1978. They were designed by a French physician to stay in the ear for a length of time. Here in the USA, they tend to stay in for 3 to 4 days. In France, it is not uncommon for a doctor to leave them in for a month or more at a time. ASP needles are frequently used by the military in a type of auricular acupuncture referred to as Battlefield Acupuncture.
ASP ear needles come in gold, stainless steel, silver and titanium. The titanium needles are safe to leave in during an MRI or PET scan (we are out of stock currently). We have used these needles with great success for years, to reduce pain, migraines, PTSD, Anxiety and more in our patients. Our patients like that the needles get “reactivated” every time they touch them.
Fees - $45 Includes up to 12 ASP NEEDLES
This service is not available from Maria. An Appointment with Dr. Kerns is required.
Normally an initial course of treatment consists of 12 to 18 treatments over a 4 to 6-week period. However, this may vary depending on complicating factors. As in most types of therapy, the earlier the patient receives treatment, the greater the probability of recovery, fewer sessions are necessary and the shorter the time to recovery.
2-3 treatments per week for 4 weeks, decreasing frequency as symptoms resolve and are reduced with a reevaluation around the 12th visit to determine whether or not recovery goals have been met or if additional treatments are medically necessary.
2-3 treatments per week for up to four weeks. 1-2 treatments per week thereafter for up to 6-8 weeks. This is also the time when a rehabilitation exercise program is usually introduced. Reevaluate after 12th visit.
1-2 treatments per week for 6-8 weeks. Reevaluate after 12th visit.
As in most types of therapy, the earlier the patient receives treatment, the greater the probability of recovery, and the shorter the time to recovery. Acupuncture is commonly utilized in chronic conditions because of effectiveness in pain management and limited treatment options.
Initial course of 1-2 treatments per week for 6-8 weeks. Reevaluate after 12th visit. *For chronic conditions, and in conditions with complicating factors, extended treatment is recommended to observe response to treatment, it make take 10 or more treatments before response is seen.
Acute conditions are severe and sudden in onset. This could describe anything from a broken bone to an asthma attack. A chronic condition, by contrast is a long-developing syndrome, such as osteoporosis or asthma. Note that osteoporosis, a chronic condition, may cause a broken bone, an acute condition. An acute asthma attack occurs in the midst of the chronic disease of asthma. Acute conditions, such as a first asthma attack, may lead to a chronic syndrome if untreated.
From stubbed toes to stomachaches, we all experience pain. In most cases this pain is temporary (or acute), however other times pain can persist for several weeks, months, or years. Its longevity, cause, location, and circumstances all contribute to how providers treat that pain and help you live the healthiest life possible.
Acute pain is the most common type of pain, usually associated with common illnesses or injuries like cuts and sprains, or trauma from a severe accident or major surgery. Acute pain occurs suddenly and usually goes away as you heal.
Minor acute pain can be easily treated through over-the-counter medicines such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen, physician therapy or exercise, or alternative treatments. Acute pain from trauma or major surgery may require stronger medicines or more intensive therapies.
Acupuncture is commonly utilized in chronic conditions because of effectiveness in pain management and limited treatment options. However, it should be noted that acupuncture and electro-acupuncture can lead to complete recovery in many neuromuscular (NMS) conditions when it is offered in the acute and sub-acute stages of injury, particularly when used in conjunction with other therapeutic interventions, such as range of motion (ROM) and strengthening exercises and manual manipulation of the soft tissue.
Fewer treatments may be necessary to observe a therapeutic effect and to obtain complete recovery.
An acute illness or injury suddenly occurs with a rapid onset. These conditions tend to resolve quickly on their own or with medical treatment and should be stabilize before treating the underlying cause.
Examples:
· Sciatica flare-up
· Injury (falling, broken bone, etc.)
· Asthma attack
· Migraine attack
· Bronchitis
· Diarrhea or colitis attack
· Flu or common cold
· Respiratory infection
· Severe menstrual cramps

Any modality that has survived nearly 5,000 years of medical advancement has to have survived for a reason. That reason is that it works. Acupuncture isn’t a panacea or cure-all that creates miracles, but it does work and if you’re ready to take control of your health and make big changes, then it might be right for you. Most insurance plans offer acupuncture coverage with more plans offering acupuncture each year.
Acupuncture is not a quick fix and like anything good, it’s not cheap (for those without insurance; but not as costly as many might think.) It takes time and commitment to incorporating healthy life-style changes, but it can change your life…it changed mine.
The general rule of thumb with acupuncture is that there is very little it can't help; however, it's not always the fastest or most cost-effective method of treatment. The conditions acupuncture can help are too many to list; however, here is a partial list of the most commonly seen conditions in this clinic.
Is there Medicine In The Needles?
There is nothing inside the needles. The needles are made of solid, stainless surgical steel.
Are the needles reused?
Acupuncture needles are never reused. They are disposable and put into a medical sharps container after each session. About once a month, a medical waste disposal company picks them up and takes them to an incinerator.

Auricular therapy involves needles, beads or seeds that are applied to the ear to treat all manner of pain and illness, similar to acupuncture. Auricular therapy is a form of acupuncture or ear (auricular) reflexology and while it's not as powerful as acupuncture, it's an excellent add-on to help boost the results of acupuncture and keep pain and other symptoms under control until the next treatment.
For those afraid of needles, it's an effective alternative. The special needles or pressure beads or seeds, are worn for 2-10 days at a time, all ear seeds work on the same principle of providing acupressure on specific ear points.
Don't all acupuncturists know how to do auricular therapy?
To some degree, yes. However, most have minimal training and get mediocre results. Because this is such a remarkably effective therapy, Dr. Kerns and Maria have gone on to advanced training and between the two of them, have treated several thousand ears! Proper placement is the #1 key to effective ear seeding.
Auricular Therapy or Auriculotherapy is the stimulation of pressure points on the ear. Often described as reflexology for the ear, there are hundreds of points that represent a microsystem of the whole body, with points for areas both physical and emotional disorders.
FEES - $25 and up - The base fee is $25 which includes up to 20 flesh tone ear seeds. 24K gold, crystal, and special edition seeds extra.

ASP needles are shaped like tiny darts that are inserted into auricular (ear) acupuncture points. The ASP needles are designed to stay in the ear for 2-7 days for continued results. ASP needles either fall out on their own or are removed by the patient.
ASP ear needles (Aiguille Semi-Permanente) or semi-permanent needles are made in Lyon, France. They were designed by a French physician to stay in the ear for a length of time. Here in the USA, they tend to stay in for several days to a week or more. In France, it is not uncommon for a doctor to leave them in for a month or more at a time.
ASP ear needles come in three different types of metal: Gold (pictured above), Stainless Steel and Titanium. The different metals are used to treat a wide variety of conditions. The titanium needles are safe to leave in during an MRI or PET scan and can be used for pain relief and to promote recovery after surgery (with permission from your doctor).
East Lake Acupuncture in Saint Cloud, Florida, has been using these needles with great success to reduce pain, anxiety and relieve PTSD symptoms in veterans, for many years.
ASP needles work best went used as an add-on to standard acupuncture. It has been our experience, that they do not work as well as traditional acupuncture, or as a stand-alone treatment, but they make a phenomenal "booster" and work well to help get you through until you can get a full acupuncture treatment. Most popular conditions treated with ASP needles:
ASP needles get “reactivated” every time you get up or move
BONUS - $2 Per ASP needle add-on to any acupuncture service
Like the idea, but not a fan of needles? Ask us about Eare Seeds (aka ear beeds) which are similar to ASP needles but no needle is required!
ASP Needles. Tiny, but powerful.
Continue normal activities and avoid over exertion for the initial 6-12 hours after a treatment. You may bathe or shower with ASP needles, Press needles ("sticky needles") or ear seeds/beads in place.
Be careful not to pull the needles when cleaning or drying the ear. ASP needles often get caught in the loops of towels when drying hair and will pop out, so uses extra care when towel-drying.
Using a warm blow dryer about 6 inches from the ear will re-activate the needles. If you remove the needles, or find them when they fall out, dispose of them in a container with a lid. An empty water bottle works great. Press neeldes can be folded in half to seal the needle into the tape, then trown away in the trash. Ear seeds/beads can be taken off and thrown away in the trash.
You may take notes about how you feel, sleep, and your pain level to report back at your next visit. The ASP or Press needles can remain in your ear for up to seven days, or if they fall out then they are “done.”
It is normal to expereince some slight, but temporary redness and discomfort during the first 2-3 days of wearing ASP and Press needles and ear seeds/beads. And while infections or allegic reactions are rare, they are possible and it's important you monitor your ears for any signs of infections or allergic reactions.
Monitoring and removal: Once a day, check the needles or ear seeds/beads. If any swelling, accompanied by redness and pain develops at the site of the needle or ear seed/bead, remove it by twisting clockwise and counter clockwise, while pulling gently. Removing during/after a warm shower can facilitate needle removal. Please call the office immediately to let us know, or better yet, some in and have us look at your ear. Remember, some redness and discomfort is to be expected, and infection or allergic reactions are rare.
Due to the high-demand and limited availablity of new patient appointments, we require a $50 deposit to hold a new patient appointment. Deposits must be paid at the time of booking or before. Your deposit will be applied to the cost of your visit, or held on account to cover your copays, co-insurance, or purchases. If you have a $0 copay on your insurance, this deposit will be refunded back to your credit card once your claim is paid by your insuance. We do not require a new patient deposit for veterans booked thorugh the VA.
We require two business days' (48-hours) notice to cancel or reschedule the visit. Please keep this in mind if you cancel over a weekend. Two business days will allow us to rebook the appointment and prevent a lost booking.
A new patient appointment requires the same amount of time as 3-6 established patient appointments (we like to spend as much time as possible with our patients), so cancelling or rescheduling far enough ahead of your appointment, will alow up to six other patients to be seen. If you fail to show up for your appointment or cancel outside of the required notice, the amount will be forfeited to offset the lost booking.
We realize that sometimes life puts obstacles in our way and there are times a person simply can't make it and aren't able to provide two business days' advance notice to cancel or reschedule. That's okay! We understand and there are no hard feelings. That's what the deposit is for. Though it won't cover the full cost of your visit, it will help reduce the hardship of the lost bookingto the clinic. We are small, woman-owned, Native America-owned, small business, and like many small businesses, we too, were hit hard by the pandemic. We allow two canceled or rescheduled new patient appointments.
Making an appointment on behalf of someone else - Appointments made on behalf of family member have the highest frequency of no-shows. We can't tell you how many times someone has booked a visit for a spouse, parent, or friend because they wanted them to experience the joy of acupuncture, or a massage by Maria, only to have that person not show for the visit becaue they really didn't want to come, but didn't want to cause hurt feelngs by saying "no."
If you are making an appointment for a family member, friend, etc., you will be responsible for the the full amount of the visit in advance and seek reimbursement from the patient. This is due to the higher liklihood of a no-show. We recommend purchasing a gift certificate and having your family-member or friend book their own appointment. This way, your feelings aren't hurt if they don't show and your lose your depoisit.
